11:45 PM - KTOK Paid a visit to the studio today to sit in on the production of a live studio show presumably called Healthy Homes and the Anti-Christian Menance or something to that effect. The abrupt transition from worldviews in conflict to under-mounted sinks felt a bit like downshifting into third just as one meant to be gearing into overdrive. (

06:07 PM - Xmas Eve Spent most of the day prepping for the annual celebration of the birth of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ by shopping at WAL*MART and cleaning house. I'm not sure which of these activities I find more frustrating and exhausting, but I suppose it is all part of the great Divine Plan. Since both of my Grandmothers sent exorbitant checks to us for Christmas we picked out an extravagant gift for their first and only great-grandson, namely, a trampoline. The kid seems quite keen to try it out, but I am afraid that there is some assembly required. We'll see how that turns out soon enough. (

10:12 PM - Family Bed No More Boo slept through the night in his own bed for the first time since his infancy. This is quite a milestone for him, and I hope he can repeat this feat another five thousand or so times in the immediate future. I know that most cultures approve of the family bed approach, and I know it is psychlogically healthy for him, but I also know that a queen sized bed is a bit cramped for the four of us. 10:12 PM - Winding Down Today at work pretty much everyone was missing who could have possibly provided answers to the questions I had, and moreover, the people who asked me the questions have gone missing as well, thus preventing me from asking them what exactly they were asking. Accordingly, I slapped together a few reasonably ambiguous answers and decided not to come back for at least a week. (

09:12 PM - Happy Solstice! Today is my 30½ b-day, yet I don't feel a day over 23. Still, my spare tire belies my youthful exuberance, and I can only hope to slim down before my 10 year "college" reunion. I'd hate to be the only one gone to seed if everyone else may yet squeeze into their mess dress. (

08:12 PM - Discipline Struggling to get back into a regimen of diet and excercise after a weekend of slouching off. My wife is helping by cooking up sumptuous steaks and the Sci-Fi channel is helping by running entertaining episodes of my favorite show. I'm hoping to avert the need to make the same resolutions for 2005 that I made for 2004. (

10:58 PM - Pre-K Holiday! This evening we watched Boo and his classmates sing in a non-sectarian holiday program at his school. His class sang "Three Little Reindeer" and "Santa Claus is coming to Town" and they were absolutely adoreable. Personally, I find the second song offensive inasmuch as it preaches an externalized view of morality rather than being good for goodness sake. Ironic, eh? (

10:25 PM - Hideaway Pizza (hold the crust) Spent some time with a few of my more deviant friends this evening, dining out at the best pizza joint in OKC. Unfortunately, I'm right off carbs until 2005 or so. Fortunately, though, they now offer pizzas without crust. Sounds odd, I know, but it turns out that pizza crust is mostly substrate and adds fairly little flavour. Lifting pizza toppings to your mouth with large edible leaves takes some getting used to, but in the end it is still downright tasty pizza. |
